More education, cars, and lots of mud!

Hey guys,

So apart from working full time now (Tues-Sat) my life has been... dull. The real world is really not that fun unless you have the time and money to make it so. Well good thing I do have a little money saved up because.... *drum roll*   I have decided to jump right back into school again! There is so many things I want to try out in my life, and even though I love animals, I've become interested in forensic sciences. This career choice requires education in the field and lots of experience (as expected since you really can't make mistakes here). So I've looked up some smaller colleges, and so far Bellevue College has caught my eye... or at least the lower cost of tuition has. lol.  I've emailed one of the criminal justice advisors there and hopefully I hear back within the next week.

Now on to the next subject.... I have fallen in love with another car, or rather cars. Scion and Subaru have both made a new car model that are pretty much the exact same - the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ. Take a look at them... if you can find a significant difference, let me know. I'm leaning more towards the Scion because Toyota has always been a good brand of car. Let me know what you think. (I'll provide pics). I'm not going to jump into buying a car just yet - education first! But maybe after...

Third subject: Have you guys ever heard of the Warrior Dash? If not, look it up on the internet, it takes place in Bonney Lake, WA on July 20th. If you are interested, sign up fast, spots are filling up! My best friend Natalie Hoover and I have signed up officially, and will be included in the 3:30pm batch. Hopefully Mother Nature does us a grand favor and makes July 20th a nice warm day, because we will be getting very wet and very muddy!

Time to hit the hay... another day another dollar. : /

Mother's Day, Tickets, and a big 'o workout!

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a fun and safe Mother's Day. I instead, hung out with my brother, Erin, and my little niece Lucy - who just gets cuter by the minute! Went to lunch, and also got free ice cream bars from Cupcake Royal! (Which did nothing for my goal of working out and eating better). I also got a cupcake which wasn't bad, and I confess, this was my first cupcake/icecream sandwich from here. Sadly I gotta say it was only average to me. The hype about Cupcake Royal doesn't match up to the taste. (The CoOP in Moscow, ID has better cupcakes!)

As for other news, I've been relaxing on my last few days off. I've been needing them after a week of work. lol. I guess that comes with age. But before you dub me "lazy" I've actually started going to the gym again. I found an 'Anytime Fitness' in Fremont, and found that it is a bit bigger than the one in Pullman, WA AND it has classes! I went to the 'Beginner Pilates' and 'Boot Camp". I have NEVER done so many burpies in my life! My legs are shaking and my arms are jello! I hope I'll be able to get up tomorrow for work without my joints moaning in protest.

The bad news... I got my first Seattle parking ticket. Oh joy! $47 just because I didn't see a sign that said "no parking north of here". They really need to make these signs more obvious! Mark the freak'n sidewalk! Whatever, I'm not about to fight it, it was stupid and I've learned my lesson. The gym has parking anyways, which requires a card (which I also got). So no more worries there.

Sorry to hear to be a granny, but it is about my bed time. So I'm out. Have a good night!

Settling in!

Hey all,

So it looks like I am pretty much moved in to my new place in Seattle. There is still a few boxes scattered about, but those will be unpacked soon enough. I also have yet to hang up my pictures and what not, but it is on the list of "to-dos".
I've had the past two days and today off, so it has given me time to get moved in and settled. My dad has helped out quite a bit, and I'm returning the favor by helping him with some stuff of his today.

Today I had to take Noodle to the vet for his checkup and some vaccines. For those who don't know who Noodle is, he is the newest addition to my little family. He is a 4 month old ferret, and absolutely adorable! He did really well at the vet, I was so surprised - and he didn't even have a reaction to his vaccines! SCORE! So he is back home, sleeping, and has a clean bill of health. Also, for anyone who has exotic pets or birds, I highly recommend "Bird and Exotic Vet Hospital" in Seattle on Aurora.

Not much else has been going on besides the big move. As for the new job... I can honestly say it has been slow. I don't know how popular this vet clinic is just yet, but so far it seems like it really isn't all that popular. I'm so use to being in a much busier atmosphere, so I don't know what do with myself during all the down time. I do however enjoy being so involved - I'm checking in patients, talking to the clients, preparing them for the Drs. and I'm sure I'll be doing a lot more come time. I get kinda nervous but it is fun just the same.

Forgive me for the short entry but I'll make it up with a cute 'lil pic of Noodle!

A New Chapter: Life After Undergrad

In the past I have been pretty bad at keeping a journal or a blog - life can become busy and writing often takes a back seat to other things such as jobs, family matters, and in my case, college amongst other things. But now that my undergrad career is officially complete, I will strive to become a better blogger, while trying to build a career for myself. I've always enjoyed writing, and nowadays it has become very possible to share my ramblings with the world - or rather those that care to take 10 minutes out of their lives to read my blog and not waste paper! Hopefully I can keep all my readers somewhat interested in this new blog of mine... believe it or not my life takes some interesting twists and turns and I can't wait to share them with you. So let us begin my journey....

                                                                         *    *    *

It is about 12:44AM as I write this in my darkened living room of my Pullman apartment. Furniture is packed all around me, waiting to be moved into the large truck outside, and I am in the middle of it on a lone mattress on top of a box spring. I can't sleep with my mind racing - thinking of all these new things that await be back in Seattle, WA. Moving can never be taken lightly - unless you are moving within the same neighborhood or within close proximity. (That is my opinion at least). In my case I am moving  5 hours back to Seattle, from Pullman, WA. I started packing about two weeks ago, and I think I can say I am finally a box away from being completely finished with this horrible chore. I'm only a college grad and I have more stuff than I know what to do with! Though I am pleased to say that I have made a couple trips to the goodwill - but obviously it hasn't been enough based on the large pile of boxes that have been hauled into the truck today - and the furniture still needs to fit!

I am a proud mother of two cats, and they have been racing around this apartment like crazy. They know something big is up and they are absolutely right! They have made the trip from Seattle to Pullman and back again before, but regardless it is always kind of stress for them - and me as well! Also, I have decided to add a new addition to the family - a ferret named Noodle. A previous co-worker of mine has found it nearly impossible to keep him due to her horrible allergies and asthma, and so I took no time in offering up my home :). I am a proud (but nervous) first time ferret owner and I have been reading up on these little guys for a few days now. Several people are quick to say that ferrets are dirty, smelly critters, but I'll put a stop to anyone with that attitude! The truth to the matter is, is that yes, ferrets can have an odor, they have special scent ducts, but they can be removed surgically (known as "de-scenting"). Noodle has been both de-scented and neutered which will help a lot. Also, in my educated opinion, all animals stink if you don't take the time to clean them up, and clean up their habitat and their messes. Have you ever taken a whiff of a mangy stray dog? PEEEEEW! And little do many people know, but ferrets are actually naturally clean creatures, they don't eat or sleep anywhere near their bathroom! And they will get fussy if their bathroom facilities are not cleaned up every other day or so. Anyhoo, more on Noodle later :)

One last thing, my new job. I have become a vet tech at the Bellevue Cat Care Clinic! It is very exciting, but starting a new job always makes me nervous - probably because I care so much about doing well and proving myself. My first day starts on the 25th - only a couple days from now. I've worked in a vet clinic before, so I'm not a total green-horn at this profession - but there is always lots more to learn! My new boss seems like a real nice guy - easy to talk to, and he graduated from WSU Veterinary School and he also knows the current Dean of Vet Med at WSU! How cool is that?! Can't wait to start. Nothing beats going to work in comfy scrubs (very close to being pajama-like). I'll be happy to keep you all updated on my adventures here since it will probably be a big part of my next chapter in life. But for now....

I'm a little less "mind-busy" now that I've typed some of my thoughts down on here. I'll try again to get some sleep - gotta get energy back for all the heavy lifting I'm about to endure.
